About Pomodoro Games

Pomodoro Games is an independent mobile studio based in Paris, making idle games for a large audience. Our goal is simple: deliver the best possible experience to our players, one session at a time, the studio's name is a nod to the Pomodoro focus technique.

We are a small team, which means short decision loops, real ownership and direct impact on the games we ship.

The role

We are looking for a Game Designer to own the design of our games' core loops, economies and features across the whole studio portfolio. You will not be tied to a single title: you will move between projects depending on priorities, from early prototypes to live operations.

You will report directly to the CEO and work daily with our tech lead, art team and UA/data. You will be the person who turns player data into design decisions, and design intent into numbers that work.

Economy & balancing

  • Design and maintain the in-game economies: currencies, sources and sinks, costs, outputs, progression curves
  • Build and own the balancing spreadsheets and formulas, and keep them as the single source of truth
  • Tune pacing, session length and long-term progression so the game stays rewarding over weeks, not just days
  • Balance monetization (IAP, offers, rewarded ads) with player satisfaction

Features & systems

  • Design new features, meta systems and live events, from concept to release
  • Write clear, actionable specs and GDDs the tech and art teams can build from
  • Deconstruct competitor games and turn the learnings into concrete proposals
  • Playtest builds, give precise feedback and follow features through to production quality

Live operations & data

  • Track the KPIs your work moves: retention, progression funnels, monetization, engagement
  • Design, run and read A/B tests, then decide what ships
  • Define the analytics events a feature needs before it is built
  • Turn data into a prioritized list of design improvements

Who you are

You are an experienced game designer who has already shipped and operated mobile games. What matters to us is what you have built and what you learned from it, not a number of years.

Must-haves

  • Several mobile free-to-play games shipped and run in live operations, where you owned design decisions
  • Strong economy and balancing skills: you are at ease with spreadsheets, formulas and progression modeling
  • A data-driven mindset: you read KPIs, design A/B tests and draw clear conclusions from them
  • Deep knowledge of the idle / incremental genre and its best-performing games
  • Clear written communication: your specs are short, precise and easy to build from

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on Unity experience: integrating data, tweaking configs, building quick prototypes
  • Experience with analytics tools (e.g. GameAnalytics) and data exports
  • Interest in AI-assisted design and production tools

How you work

  • Autonomous and accountable: you own your topics end to end
  • Player-first: every decision starts from the player experience
  • Comfortable switching between projects and between big-picture design and fine-grained tuning
  • Open to feedback, and able to defend a position with arguments and data

What we offer

  • A permanent contract (CDI)
  • Work from our Paris office or fully remote, wherever you are most effective
  • A direct line to the CEO and real ownership of design across the whole portfolio
  • A small, senior team where your work ships fast and its impact is measurable
